While I was already familiar with several different computer programs, this class really opened my eyes to how I can incorporate all those programs into the classroom. The goal was to be able to select technology tools for integration across the curriculum. The Graffiti Art was one of my favorite projects for this class because I was able to implement it in my real life, not just in a fictional classroom. I had my son do the project as well as myself (his results may be seen as an insert in mine). I had him tell me a monster story before we started, then had him tell me another one based on the picture he designed. The use of a picture that he created expanded his imaginative writing greatly. The Jeopardy game is also a project that I have used in lesson plans for other classes. Now that I have written the program for the game, I can easily adjust the questions for a variety of subjects ranging from reading to math. The Soup Can Label is one that can be easily adjusted depending on the age and ability of the students. I intend to use it for book reports. Younger students can find 3-4 photos to demonstrate sequence of events in shorter stories while older students can design backgrounds, titles, and ingredients to go along with their sequence photos. I was pleased with expanding my knowledge in Excel. I was able to produce simple worksheets prior to this class, but am now able to make color graphs and charts to go with them. I think it will be very helpful for parents see where their children are academically in comparison to others in the class during parent teacher conferences.
